How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Hair grows in a continuous cycle that includes three distinct phases:
- Active Growth Phase:Â Â 90% of the time, hair is in the active growth phase. Laser hair removal is most effective during this time.
- Mature Phase: Hair has stopped growing. Â
- Dormant Phase:Â The follicle is preparing to shed (exfoliation) and cycles back to the active growth phase.
Laser Hair Removal treatments work by disabling the hair that is in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter the active growth phase at different times, multiple sessions are required to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
Number of TreatmentsÂ
Most areas need 6-8 treatments for optimal results. Treatments are typically booked every 4 weeks for the face, and 8 weeks for treatments on the body. The number of treatments is determined by multiple factors – hair thickness, the area treated, and your hair’s growth cycle.

Two Types Of Laser Hair Removal Systems
Vectus
The Vectus diode laser emits laser energy that targets the hair follicle causing permanent damage. This highly effective laser comes with 2 different hand pieces that allow the technician to treat a wide variety of areas.
Depending on the area, the treatments are anywhere from 4-8 weeks apart for best results. Most patients require anywhere from 6-8 treatments. This is because there are different cycles of hair growth, and we need to specifically target one phase. Your technician will go over a treatment plan for you.
Vectus hair removal treats medium brown to black hair. Hair that is blonde, red, white, or grey cannot be treated with laser hair removal.
The treatment itself is described as a prickling sensation and can be uncomfortable for some people. Most patients however have a high satisfaction rate.
