When considering plastic surgery, knowing which Plastic Surgeon to choose can be difficult. It’s important to take the time to research your options and find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is experienced and qualified with an excellent reputation.
Board Certification: Board Certification is a key factor when choosing a Plastic Surgeon. Look for a Plastic Surgeon who is Board Certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This ensures that the Surgeon has the necessary training, experience, and knowledge to perform safe and successful procedures. This means they have also completed an accredited residency and passed an examination from the Canadian Board of Plastic Surgery.

Experience: Plastic surgery is an art form requiring a skilled surgeon with the experience and expertise to achieve beautiful aesthetic results. Ask your Plastic Surgeon how many years of experience they have and how many procedures they have performed.
Reputation & Reviews: Reviews are a great way to get an idea of how other patients have felt about their experience with a particular Plastic Surgeon. Look for reviews on websites such as Google, and RealSelf.
Specialty: Choose a qualified, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is experienced in the type of procedure you are having. There’s many ENTs marketing themselves as “Facial Plastic Surgeons”, ENTs are not Plastic Surgeons. Buyer beware, please do your research. To know if the surgeon you are interested in is in fact a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, look for their name on the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons website. If their name is not listed — they are not a Plastic Surgeon.
Communication: Communication is key when choosing a Plastic Surgeon. Make sure your Surgeon takes the time to answer your questions and explains the procedure in detail. You must be comfortable with your Surgeon and feel comfortable asking questions or expressing any concerns.
Results: Take the time to look at before and after pictures of the Surgeon’s past procedures. This will give you an idea of the Surgeon’s skill level and the quality of results they can provide. Make sure the before and after photos are not from a brochure and the results you’re looking at is actual work performed by the Surgeon you are considering.
Surgical Facility: It’s best to have your surgery performed in a fully privatized surgical center so you are not exposed to unnecessary illnesses or bacteria. Getting your surgery perfored in a private surgical centre dramatically improves your safety and reduces infection rates.
Choosing the right Plastic Surgeon is an important decision, and it’s important to take the time to research your options and find a qualified and experienced Plastic Surgeon who can provide you with safe and successful results. By following these tips, you can be sure to find the right Plastic Surgeon for your unique needs.
