Under Eye Filler
in Winnipeg, Manitoba at The First Glance
Under Eye Filler (also called Tear Trough Filler) is a treatment performed with injectable dermal fillers to eliminate dark under-eye circles, puffiness, and bags under your eyes. Dermal fillers work by adding lift to smooth and fill the hollowness under the eyes to create a brighter, revitalized appearance within a matter of minutes.
Very few facial features can age you faster than tired-looking eyes. Dark sunken circles and bags under your eyes develop and deepen through the aging process when collagen and elastin breaks down, which causes the skin to thin and sag. When injected carefully and correctly, Under Eye Filler gives your eyes a well-rested look — taking years off your appearance. An additional benefit of Under Eye Filler includes a gentle lift and softening of laugh lines.
Under Eye Filler is an advanced medical treatment that should only be performed by an Expert Nurse Injector or a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon in a fully accredited medical clinic. There are many veins, arteries, and nerves in the face making it extremely important to be treated by a licensed medical professional with a physician onsite.

What Causes Dark Circles And Bags Under The Eyes?
Several factors contribute to dark circles and bags under the eyes. Some of the causes include:
01. Family Genetics: The most common cause of dark circles and bags under the eyes is family genetics; it’s in our DNA.
02. Ageing: Bone Loss, Fat Loss, and the Breakdown of Collagen & Elastin naturally occurs as we age.
Bone Loss and Fat Loss in the Face Comes With Age. Loss of volume and structural support creates sunken hollows on the face that can develop and deepen through the ageing process — leaving us with tired-looking hollows under our eyes.
When Collagen and Elastin Breaks Down Skin Begins To Sag. The delicate skin under our eyes begins to lose volume and fullness, getting thinner and more translucent over time. Thin, weak skin makes dark circles more visible. As we age, gravity takes over, and the delicate skin starts to sag, creating bags under the eyes. Leaving you looking older and tired, even on your best days.
How Does Under Eye Filler Work and What Is Hyaluronic Acid?
Under Eye Filler works by adding volume to lift the sunken hollows around your eyes, adds structure to the face, and delivers more support to your skin. Fillers can also smooth lines, wrinkles, and folds for a revitalized appearance.
There are a variety of Under Eye Fillers that can be used to diminish dark circles and fill sunken hollows under the eyes. The majority of Under Eye Fillers are made with Hyaluronic Acid, which is a very safe and naturally occurring substance in the skin. Hyaluronic Acid helps the skin retain moisture, delivers nutrients, creates softness, and adds volume.
Hyaluronic Acid helps the skin retain moisture, delivers nutrients, creates softness, and adds volume. When Hyaluronic Acid is used to treat bags and hollows under the eyes, a thicker density filler may be injected down to the bone to restore volume, structure, and support. The type of filler for your treatment relies on the anatomy of your face, the length of time the filler lasts, the cost per syringe, and the desired look you’d like to achieve.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers dissolve naturally and gradually over time. Most of the Restylane®, Juvéderm®, and Teosyal® products tend to last around 1 to 2 years when injected under the eyes. Touch-up treatments are required to maintain your results.
What Can I Expect During My Under Eye Filler Treatment?
On the day of your treatment, your expert injector will meet you in a private treatment room to discuss your aesthetic goals in detail. From there, your injector will assess your facial anatomy to determine what type of filler is best to achieve your desired results.
Before your treatment begins, your skin will be cleansed at the injection sites to remove any makeup or oil from the surface of your skin (very important). If you can, please come to your appointment without any makeup on. Now that your skin is clean, your injector is ready to introduce the Under Eye Filler with a cannula or an ultra-fine needle (which may feel like a light pinch). A cannula is a tiny tube that distributes the dermal filler. Some injectors prefer to use a cannula to reduce the risk of bruising. All of the injectors at The First Glance are experts in both methods (needle and cannula). Your injector will determine which technique is best for your treatment.
Your injector will go slowly, adding your filler in stages until they reach the desired result. Your injector may also mold the filler with their fingers after it’s injected to shape it into place before it fully sets. It’s important to ice the area after your treatment to reduce swelling and bruising. Your treatment will take about 15 to 30 minutes.

What Is The Expected Recovery Time?
Swelling and bruising after Under Eye Filler treatments is common. Swelling is at its peak 1 to 2 days after your treatment. The swelling is much better after 4 to 5 days (every patient heals in their own unique way). You may continue to experience light swelling for a few weeks after your treatment.
When Will I See Results After My Under Eye Filler Treatment?
Some results will be visible immediately. There will be some swelling after your treatment so you won’t get a full picture of your final results until a few days later.
How Long Will My Results Last?
Under Eye Filler can last around 1 to 2 years. Depending on your anatomy and how quickly filler dissolves in your body — some fullness may last longer. Touch-up treatments are required to maintain your results.
