Smartxide Co2 Laser Resurfacing

Not ready for a face lift? Do you have scarring that you would like to improve? Why not try Smartxide Co2 Laser Resurfacing.

Co2 Laser Resurfacing is an ideal treatment for mature skin types who are interested in diminishing fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots and red blotchiness or for thicker skin types who suffer from severe acne scarring. This is the most aggressive non-surgical procedure offered for skin rejuvenation.

Co2 Laser Resurfacing is a fractionated laser, which means it removes hundreds of tiny cylinder shaped sections of skin while keeping the surrounding skin perfectly intact. Our skin responds by allowing new epithelial cells and collagen fibres to form in these spaces which in turn create volume. This procedure is comparable to aerating your lawn by removing tiny sections for overall health.

*Medication is administered prior to this treatment to ease discomfort for the patient.*

What’s the recovery period like after Co2 Laser Resurfacing?

This is a more aggressive procedure, so the downtime is approximately 10-14 days. During this time you will be very red and swollen. You may experience some mild bleeding, discomfort and tenderness. After the initial 5 days, you will most likely notice scabbing, peeling skin and white spots, which could last an additional 5-7 days.  The more mature your skin is, the longer the healing process can take.

Are there any risks to Co2 Laser Resurfacing?

The key to any treatment is to follow the proper post care instructions given to you by your medical professional. However, as with any laser treatment there are some possible risks and side effects. These include residual redness, excessive swelling, post inflammatory hyper pigmentation, and poor healing possibly resulting in disruptions of the skin tissue i.e.: scars and burns.
