What are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers are an injectable gel that can help fill in lines and creases that we have in our faces.

Are there different types of dermal fillers?
Yes, there are different types and brands of filler products. The majority of ‘fillers’ are made up of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body, this is just an artificial form of it.  There are also non-hyaluronic acid and semi-hyaluronic types of fillers as well such that instead of filling, they help with the texture of the skin.

There are many different brands on the market, some better than others. At our clinic, we favor Juvederm® and Restylane® products as well as Redensity®, but there are others we use as well. Your injector will let you know what product they recommend to achieve the best result.

How long do dermal fillers last?
There are several factors that affect how long fillers last. The products are made to last anywhere from 6-18 months. However, if you have a fast metabolism or an active lifestyle, you are going to metabolize the product faster. Also, product will last longer in some areas verses others. For example, fillers in your cheeks will last longer than fillers in your lips because you use your lip muscles all the time.

What areas of the face are treated with dermal fillers?
Facial fillers are used to treat volume loss in cheeks, creases and wrinkles around the mouth and to restore volume or plump your lips.  We can also inject it around the jaw line for more prominent definition.

What can I expect after my treatment with dermal fillers?
You can expect greatly improved wrinkles, softer creases around the mouth with lifting of the corners of the mouth. The treatment site may have a little swelling, which may last 24 to 36 hours depending on the area treated. There may be some slight bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with make-up after a few hours.

Is there anything I need to know before coming in for my BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport® and Filler treatment?

Yes! People coming in for facial injections NEED to know a few things before having treatment. WE WILL NOT INJECT YOU IF YOU HAVE A COLD SORE. If you are prone to getting cold sores, it is important that you tell your injector during your consultation. There is a medication you must take before being injected. Also, AVOID BLOOD THINNERS starting 10 days before your treatment with dermal fillers to reduce the risk of bruising. For your convenience, here is a list of items to avoid:
