When we look in the mirror we often tend to focus on our imperfections. Often, people feel their faces are out of balance, or disproportionate and want to enhance their features.
According to statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Chin implants have increased by 71% between 2010 and 2011, outdoing cosmetic procedures like Breast Augmentation, Liposuction and even Botox.
A simple procedure such as a chin augmentation can make a dramatic improvement in your appearance and boost your confidence. A small incision would be made on the inside of the mouth, or just under the chin. Once a pocket is created, the implant is inserted, and then the tiny incision is closed with fine sutures. The scar is virtually undetectable.
Dr. Anthony P. Lockwood can alter the chin by either attaching a specifically selected implant or by altering and repositioning the bone, thereby increasing the projection.
One of the strongest characteristics of youth is fullness of the cheeks. Cheekbones are responsible for defining the face, highlighting the eyes, and adding overall balance to your features. Often, Cheek Implants are used to create these prominent cheekbones. A small incision is made on the inside of your mouth, and a pocket is created. Once the implant is inserted, the incision is closed with tiny sutures. You are left with no visible scar, and the cheekbones you desire.
What are the Implants made of?
A variety of available materials are considered biocompatible, which means your body will most likely not react to them as foreign objects, but rather will find them compatible. The most frequently used are made of Gortex, a solid, but flexible silicone. These materials are considered safe. During your consultation, Dr. Lockwood will be able to update you on any medical reports regarding these materials.
What’s the recovery period after Chin Implants or Cheek Implants?
As with most cosmetic surgeries, you will need to take time to recover. The recovery period will be different for each patient depending on the extent of the surgery, the area of the body, and the patient’s health.
Cheek and Chin implant surgery is not a complicated procedure so the recovery period is relatively short with many patients resuming normal activities within a few days. As with any surgery there may be some swelling, minimal bruising, or mild pain. You can expect to see the refined, contoured results of the implants gradually emerge after four to six weeks.
Are there any risks to Chin Implants and Cheek Implants?
During your consultation, Dr. Lockwood and his expert medical team will clearly outline all of the necessary precautions you need to take, as well as any postoperative limitations you should follow.
Dr. Lockwood and his staff take every necessary precaution to minimize any risk involved with all surgeries or cosmetic procedures.
