In some cultures dimples are considered a sign of good luck and prosperity.  They brighten up a smile and add character to your appearance.  Dimple Creation has become increasingly popular over the last few years, with stars like Miranda Kerr and Mario Lopez being cited as influences behind the decision to have dimple creation surgery.

A dimple is formed when there is a small defect in the cheek musculature (most often the buccinator muscle).  The skin overlying this small defect is stuck down to the underlying connective tissue and creates a dimple in the skin with smiling.

Dimple creation surgery can be done on any cheek or chin.  You can decide where you want the dimples, or have Dr. Lockwood expertly place them on your face.

How is Dimple Creation performed?

A small incision is made in the inside of your cheek and a small absorbable suture is passed through the inside of the cheek, where the dimple is desired.  When this suture is tied it causes a dimpling in the overlying skin, and a dimple is created.  The dimple is only present while smiling or moving the face.

Dimple creation is done under local anaesthesia by Dr. Anthony P. Lockwood in our state-of-the-art surgical facility located at The First Glance Aesthetic Clinic and Surgery Centre. You will be awake and comfortable during the entire process. The dimple surgery takes about 20-30 minutes. You are able to go home right after the surgery is performed.

What’s the recovery period after Dimple Creation?

As with most cosmetic surgeries, you will need to take time to recover. The recovery period will be different for each patient depending on the extent of the surgery, the area of the body, and the patient’s health.

After Dimple Creation sugery, you may get a little swelling or bruising, but that will go away within a few days. You should be able to resume your normal activities the following day.

Are there any risks to Dimple Creation?

It is a safe and effective surgery, with minimal complications.

During your consultation, Dr. Lockwood and his expert medical team will clearly outline all of the necessary precautions you need to take, as well as any postoperative limitations you should follow.

Dr. Lockwood and his staff take every necessary precaution to minimize any risk involved with all surgeries or cosmetic procedures.
