What are BOTOX COSMETIC® and Dysport®?
Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators which are a proteins that block nerve stimulation of the muscles. There are a number of cosmetic uses for Botox, however when used on the face, the relaxing of the muscles soften the unwanted wrinkles giving you a rejuvenated look.
What is the difference between BOTOX COSMETIC® and Dysport®?
Dysport is an alternative to Botox made by a different company. Both products contain the same basic derived protein known as botulinum toxin, which is serotype A. The main difference is in the make up of the protein. The cost, duration of treatment and efficacy are comparable.
How do BOTOX COSMETIC® and Dysport® work?
Botox and Dysport are injected into select facial muscles. By relaxing those muscles, you are prevented from making the facial expressions which cause the wrinkles. Botox and Dysport both take 10-14 days to fully kick in. Some people may find they feel the tightness sooner than others, but it varies person to person.

Are there any side effects to BOTOX COSMETIC® / Dysport®?
There is no down time with Botox or Dysport! It is highly unlikely that anything should happen, but it is possible for the upper lid to droop. You may experience swelling in the injection site that usually goes away in about 15-20 min. Bruising is possible, but highly unlikely to occur.
How long will my BOTOX COSMETIC® / Dysport® last?
Botox and Dysport only lasts 3 months in the body. After that, the product is completely metabolized. People who regularly get Botox or Dysport treatments every 3 to 4 months may feel that their results last longer. This is because the more consistent you are, the less you are using the muscles, therefore you begin to train yourself not to use those muscles anymore and in turn the muscle will develop a permanent weakness.
