Chin Implant Patient #1 at The First Glance

This patient had Chin Implant Surgery with Dr. Lockwood. There are 7 months between his before and after photographs you see.

Have you always wanted a more prominent chin? Maybe you have always thought you had a weak chin, weak jaw or a recessed chin?   Patients with a “small chin” structure tend to complain that their noses look out of proportion or that their necks have little to no definition. Studies also show that having a recessed chin may lead to earlier than normal signs of aging. This is due to the lack of soft tissue support in the lower face and neck. These signs of aging include puffy cheeks, early drooping in the facial tissue in the cheek, and an abnormally large chin-neck contour angle.

Who would think that Chin Implant Procedure can prevent early signs of aging as well as give you an overall proportionate look to your facial features. Chin Implant Surgery is a minor surgery that can make a major difference in a patients appearance .Why wouldn’t you want to balance out your features with a simple and easy procedure and give yourself that confidence boost you need to love what you see in the mirror.

During your Chin Augmentation a small incision is be made just under the chin making the scar virtually undetectable. Dr. Lockwood small pocket is created, the specifically selected implant is inserted, and then the tiny incision is closed with fine sutures. What are the Chin Implants made of?

What are the Chin Implants made of?

A variety of available materials are considered biocompatible, which means your body will most likely not react to them as foreign objects, but rather will find them compatible. The most frequently used are made of Gortex, a solid, but flexible silicone. These materials are considered safe. During your consultation, Dr. Lockwood will be able to update you on any medical reports regarding these materials.

What is the Recovery Time?

As with most cosmetic surgeries, you will need to take time to recover. The recovery period will be different for each patient depending on the extent of the surgery, the area of the body, and the patient’s health.

Cheek and Chin implant surgery is not a complicated procedure so the recovery period is relatively short with many patients resuming normal activities within a few days. As with any surgery there may be some swelling, minimal bruising, or mild pain. You can expect to see the refined, contoured results of the implants gradually emerge after four to six weeks.

Are there any Risks with a Chin Augmentation?

Although this is a low risk procedure, during your consultation Dr. Lockwood and his expert medical team will clearly outline all of the necessary precautions you need to take, as well as any postoperative limitations you should follow.

Dr. Lockwood and his staff take every necessary precaution to minimize any risk involved with all surgeries or cosmetic procedures.
